OneSubsea is a world‑leading provider of subsea technology, enabling efficient utilization of energy resources and accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future.

We are now looking for a Control System Software Engineer to join our team in Bergen, Sandsli.

About the role

This is an opportunity to work on some of the most advanced subsea production systems in the world. As a Control Systems Engineer with SLB OneSubsea, you're not just designing control logic, you're helping to enable the safe and efficient operation of subsea energy infrastructure that operates thousands of meters below the ocean surface.

You'll work with cutting-edge subsea control systems, automation, communications, and power distribution technologies. The role combines software, hardware, systems engineering, and real-world operational challenges, making it highly technical and intellectually stimulating.

SLB OneSubsea offers a unique environment where engineers are involved throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept development and design to testing, commissioning, and field support. This means you can see the direct impact of your work on major global projects.

The company also has a strong international footprint, giving you exposure to global teams, customers, and projects. If you're looking for a role where you can develop both deep technical expertise and broader project and customer-facing skills, this is a great platform.

Key responsibilities include

  • Designing, implementing, and testing control system software for subsea systems
  • Performing modifications and upgrades to delivered control systems through aftermarket activities
  • Participating in component, functional, system, and interface testing

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams across all project phases
  • Supporting implementation and handover of control system software for subsea products and systems
  • We are looking for someone who

Is excited by the opportunity to work with industry-leading subsea technology and contribute to solutions that support a more sustainable energy future. This role offers the chance to tackle complex engineering challenges while collaborating with highly skilled colleagues across multidisciplinary teams in an environment that values knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous development.

The ideal candidate holds as a minimum a BSc in automation, cybernetics, computer science, IT, or a related engineering discipline. Experience with PLC-based control systems is considered a strong advantage, however we also value relevant practical experience and transferable skills and encourage candidates with diverse backgrounds to apply.

    Required experience

  • Has minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Is fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Has a positive, practical, and solution-oriented mindset with high drive and strong capacity to deliver
  • Can work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
  • It is a bonus if you have

  • Experience with Rockwell Automation products (e.g. Allen-Bradley PLCs or FactoryTalk View HMI software)
  • Experience with Hyper-V virtualization or VMware solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server
  • Understanding of quality assurance and software testing methods
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and modern visualization/presentation tools
  • Use of AI tools to support development and improve workflows
  • With us, you will experience

  • Collaboration with highly qualified engineers working with leading energy companies worldwide
  • A dynamic workday where you influence technical solutions and outcomes
  • An international work environment that values initiative and innovation
  • Varied tasks across projects, customers, and technologies
