Assistant Professor in Financial Accounting

About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in Financial Accounting at the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. The duration of the contract for the position is four years, with good opportunities for a permanent position as Associate Professor if and when certain requirements are met. We seek ambitious candidates early in their careers who have relevant research experience and teaching capabilities within the field of Financial Accounting. The candidates should have a PhD in Financial Accounting and possess a portfolio of projects with clear potential to be published in top-ranked journals.

To strengthen the research group in Financial Accounting we seek candidates with confirmed competence in quantitative archival-empirical methods within the financial accounting domain. The research group is affiliated with two research centers/projects: Centre for Digital Business and Audit and Norwegian Centre for Taxation. Candidates with research experience in the relevant methods and topics and/or practical job-experience in the audit profession will be prioritised.

Faculty members at NHH are expected to be good teachers. NHH offers the opportunity to participate in a programme for university pedagogy, and the appointee must take one basic module of the programme for university pedagogy in the course of the fixed-term period. The appointee is expected to be involved in teaching on an average of one course per year and conduct some student supervision in degree programs at bachelor, master and PhD levels. Candidates must be fluently in English. Formal pedagogical education and/or practical experience with teaching will count positively for the job.

The salary will be negotiable within the Norwegian State Salary Scale for assistant professors.
