Do you want to help shape the future of Jotron’ s underwater acoustic products?
We are now looking for an Underwater Acoustic Systems Engineer who wants to develop specialist competence in underwater acoustics and contribute to future maritime products. The role combines theoretical understanding, finite element modelling, experimental work and practical product development, with a strong emphasis on turning ideas into robust, repeatable and manufacturable products. Join us and help shape the next generation of our products and innovation in the maritime market.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK WITHAs an Acoustic Sensor Engineer, you will contribute to the development of underwater acoustic and sensor technology for Jotron’ s maritime products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing deep expertise in underwater acoustic sensor technology and underwater systems.
- Using modelling, simulation, laboratory testing and measurements to understand and evaluate acoustic performance.
- Designing, building and testing prototypes, and validating simulations through practical experiments.
- Investigating technical challenges and contributing to robust, reliable product designs.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured and tested efficiently.
At Jotron, the goal is not only to create concepts that work in simulations or the laboratory. You will help turn ideas into robust, repeatable products that perform reliably in demanding maritime environments and are suitable for efficient series production.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?We are looking for a curious and analytical engineer with a strong interest in physics, acoustics and sensor technology.
You enjoy understanding why things behave the way they do and solving technical challenges through a combination of theory, modelling, experimentation and practical engineering.
Experience with underwater acoustics is an advantage, but not a requirement. Your background may be in acoustics, physics, electronics, ultrasonics, RF, radar or another sensor-related technology. Most importantly, you are motivated to develop expertise in underwater acoustics and enjoy turning technical concepts into practical products.
You are hands-on, enjoy testing your ideas and use measurements and data to make informed engineering decisions.
WE BELIEVE YOU HAVE- You have an MSc or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Acoustics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation or a related technical field. Relevant professional experience may compensate for formal qualifications.
- You have a strong interest in acoustics, sensor technology and physical systems.
- You have experience with, or an interest in, modelling, simulation, testing and product development.
- You can analyze results, draw conclusions and document your work clearly.
- You communicate well in both English and Norwegian, verbally and in writing.
Experience with underwater acoustics, acoustic or ultrasonic sensors, finite element modelling, laboratory testing, prototype development or maritime technology is an advantage.
