Do you want to take a leading technical role in shaping the future of control systems at Enhanced Drilling, now part of Expro?

We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer -- Control Systems to join our Technology & Reliability organization.

In this role, you will be our global technical authority for control systems and play a key part in defining how our systems are designed, verified, operated and maintained. You will work across projects, operations and product development, helping us improve the safety, reliability and performance of our control systems worldwide.

This is a senior technical position for someone who enjoys combining hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership and long-term development.

What will you be doing?

As Lead Engineer -- Control Systems, you will be responsible for developing and governing our control-system standards, architectures and engineering practices.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Own and develop global standards and design principles for control systems

  • Provide technical direction and support across projects, operations and product development

  • Review system designs and modifications and ensure compliance with company requirements, regulations and relevant industry standards

  • Develop and maintain reference architectures for PLC, SCADA, HMI, instrumentation, industrial networks and integrated control systems

  • Drive standardization within alarm management, diagnostics, event logging, fault handling and operator interfaces

  • Define principles for redundancy, failover, degraded operation and recovery of critical systems

  • Support and lead technical reviews and root-cause analyses related to failures, trips, alarms and system deviations

  • Develop lifecycle strategies covering obsolescence, backups, recovery, configuration and version control

  • Define requirements related to functional safety and OT cybersecurity

  • Establish strategies for qualification, verification and system health assessments

  • Support technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and specialists across the organization

You will also work closely with other engineering disciplines, operations, suppliers and customers, and contribute to technical reviews, qualification activities and commissioning.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with solid experience from industrial automation and control systems who is comfortable taking ownership and providing technical direction.

You preferably have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, automation, cybernetics or a related discipline. Extensive relevant experience may compensate for formal education

  • Around 10 years or more of relevant experience within industrial automation, PLC/SCADA or integrated control systems

  • Experience developing or governing control-system architectures, standards and lifecycle practices

  • Strong knowledge of system integration, industrial networks, diagnostics, alarm management, reliability and fault tolerance

  • Experience with technical documentation, design reviews and engineering governance

  • Strong written and spoken English

Experience from offshore, marine, drilling, energy or another safety-critical industry will be an advantage.

Knowledge of functional safety, barrier management, OT cybersecurity, system qualification, commissioning or lifecycle management is also beneficial.

Who are you?

We believe you are someone who:
  • enjoys taking technical ownership and making sound engineering decisions

  • communicates complex technical topics in a clear and practical way

  • works well across disciplines, locations and organizational boundaries

  • combines a strategic perspective with a practical engineering mindset

  • works independently and manages priorities effectively

  • enjoys sharing knowledge and developing others

  • has a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement

What we offer

This is an opportunity to take a key technical role in shaping global control-system standards and future architectures across advanced offshore drilling technologies.

You will work with experienced colleagues in multidisciplinary and international teams, with the opportunity to influence both our established product portfolio and the technologies we develop for the future.

  • A technically challenging and influential role

  • An international and multidisciplinary working environment

  • Opportunities for professional development

  • Competitive salary

  • Attractive pension and insurance schemes

  • Welfare benefits

The position is full-time and based in either Oslo or Straume. Some domestic and international travel will be required, and occasional offshore travel may be necessary in connection with verification, commissioning, troubleshooting and operational support.
