Are you an experienced procurement professional with strong commercial acumen and a passion for supplier management, strategic sourcing, and operational excellence?

Enhanced Drilling, now part of Expro, is looking for a Category Lead to take end-to-end ownership of an assigned procurement category. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded professional who thrives in a dynamic industrial environment and enjoys combining strategic responsibilities with hands-on procurement activities.

About the role

As Category Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring commercial and contractual compliance, and delivering measurable value across our operations.

You will act as the single point of accountability for category performance, ensuring that procurement activities align with business objectives, operational priorities, and applicable regulatory and quality requirements, including API Q2, ISO standards, contractual obligations, and internal governance.

The role involves close collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Projects, Finance, and Quality to ensure consistent procurement practices, effective risk management, reliable deliveries, and strong supplier performance across regions and projects.

This is a hands-on role from day one. Initially, you will manage both category ownership and day-to-day Buyer activities. As transaction volumes, complexity, or risk increase, the procurement execution model may evolve to include dedicated Buyer resources. Until such a separation is formally established, you will retain full responsibility for both commercial ownership and procurement execution.

Key responsibilities Category Strategy & Ownership
  • Develop and maintain category strategies, including supplier segmentation, sourcing models, category scope, and risk assessments.

  • Take end-to-end accountability for spend, suppliers, and performance within the assigned category.

  • Ensure sourcing strategies support operational, project, and regional requirements.

  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.

Commercial & Contractual Management
  • Establish and maintain commercial frameworks, including contracts, Terms & Conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and change management processes.

  • Ensure contractual terms and commercial agreements are applied consistently.

  • Identify, manage, and escalate commercial risks, contractual deviations, and ambiguities.

  • Safeguard commercial value and ensure procurement decisions align with approved strategies and business objectives.

Supplier Management & Compliance
  • Oversee supplier onboarding, qualification, approval, and revalidation in accordance with applicable API Q2, ISO, quality, and compliance requirements.

  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery reliability, quality, and commercial compliance.

  • Develop strong supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to address supplier risks, audits, non-conformances, and corrective actions.

Procurement Execution & Operational Support
  • Perform day-to-day Buyer activities, including purchasing and follow-up of orders, until a dedicated Buyer function is justified and formally established.

  • Ensure purchase orders, invoices, and recharges are aligned with approved agreements and commercial requirements.

  • Follow up deliveries and supplier commitments to support safe and reliable operations.

  • Resolve procurement and supplier issues in collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Projects, Finance, and Quality.

  • As the role matures and Buyer execution is formally separated, provide governance and oversight to ensure procurement activities remain aligned with category strategies, contractual obligations, and risk requirements.

Qualifications and experience We are looking for a candidate who has:
  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the oil and gas industry or another industrial environment.

  • Proven experience in category management, commercial governance, and supplier relationship management.

  • A strong understanding of contracts, commercial risk, sourcing strategies, and relevant regulatory and quality frameworks.

  • Experience working in matrix organisations with multiple stakeholders, regions, or projects.

  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance strategic priorities with operational demands.

Personal qualities To succeed in this role, you are:
  • Accountable, proactive, and solutions-oriented.

  • A strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.

  • Collaborative, inclusive, and team-oriented.

  • Flexible and able to work independently.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working under pressure.

  • Equally comfortable with practical, hands-on tasks and administrative responsibilities.

HSE, Quality & Compliance

Safety is fundamental to everything we do. In this role, you will be expected to actively support and promote our Zero Harm culture by:

  • Complying with all applicable HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Participating in HSE training, safety meetings, and audits

  • Reporting unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses, and stopping work when conditions appear unsafe

  • Ensuring suppliers and contractors meet applicable HSE, Quality, and compliance requirements

  • Incorporating HSE and quality risks into supplier selection, sourcing strategies, and commercial decisions

  • Working closely with HSE, Quality, Operations, and Engineering to manage supplier risks and drive corrective actions

  • Promoting the use of approved, qualified, and fit-for-purpose suppliers to support safe and reliable operations

What we offer
  • An international working environment

  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth

  • A competitive salary

  • Attractive pension and insurance schemes

  • A range of welfare benefits

  • Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home on selected days

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a key procurement category and make a meaningful contribution to commercial performance, supplier relationships, risk management, and operational excellence.
