Ease Live is looking for a DevOps Engineer

Ease Live is hiring a DevOps Engineer to work on the infrastructure behind our interactive graphics platform. Ease Live powers many of the largest sports leagues, broadcasters and streaming services in the world with real time interactive sports experiences. Our main office is in Bergen, Norway, and we're accepting applications from CET or adjacent time zones.

You'll be running and improving the hosting and operations of the Ease Live SaaS platform, working alongside developers to keep deployments fast, cost efficient, and resilient.

Ease Live distributes interactive graphics and overlays on top of live sports streams. We work with the top tier sports leagues in the market, across basketball, baseball, football, tennis and many more. This means high traffic spikes during live events with millions of concurrent viewers. As an example, this summer we distributed to 76.5 million interactive sessions during the World Cup. Services are stateless and containerized, we lean heavily on EC2 spot instances to keep costs sane, and the entire system is defined in Terraform.

To give you a clear idea of what the job entails, here are some real examples of the kind of work we do:

• Tuning a deployment to cut cloud spend without giving up headroom for a match-day spike.

• Debugging a data workflow between our platform and a partner's stats feed.

• Setting up a GitHub/CircleCI pipeline so a service can ship a new version in minutes instead of hours.

• Working with a developer to track down why an AWS integration behaves differently under load.

• Making dynamic scaling react faster to the traffic pattern of a live event kickoff.

• Adding monitoring to our dashboards that tells us something is wrong before a customer does.

• Building out automated testing so a growing customer base doesn't mean growing risk.

• Rewriting Terraform so a piece of infrastructure stops being a thing only one person understands.

We're looking for candidates with a track record of running real systems in production. You should be comfortable with Node.js, with AWS or GCP, with MySQL and Redis, and with the protocols underneath it all: HTTP, SSL, DNS, WebSockets, TCP/IP. Version control and CI/CD should be second nature.

It's a plus if you've worked in high-volume environments, if you've used Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool, and if you're at home in Linux with scripting and deployment automation.

Just because you're experienced doesn't mean we expect you to know our stack on day one. You'll have time to learn our systems, our processes, and our people.

When there's a decision to make about how something should work, you'll discuss it with colleagues and then make it. We're quick to trust that you can do it, and here to support you in making it so. You can expect to be counted on. We're not big on credentials. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here.

Home office is fine, we are flexible. You’re free to work where you work best. To make sure time zones overlap with most of the team, we're only looking for people based in Europe.
