<h2>About the position</h2><p>We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position, available at the Department of Pharmacy. </p><p>Starting date no later than October 1, 2026.</p><p>The appointment is a fulltime position and is for a period of three years (10% of which is devoted to other career promoting work, usually in the form of teaching activities). Alternatively, the position can be combined with a relevant position, for example at a primary pharmacy or within clinical pharmacy, either as a 75% or a 50% postdoctoral fellowship combined with the external position. The postdoctoral period will be prolonged accordingly. </p><p>No one can be appointed for more than one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo.</p><p>The place of work is the Department of Pharmacy, <a href="https://www.uio.no/english/research/strategic-research-areas/life-science/about/building/" rel="nofollow">the Life Science building </a>at the University of Oslo.</p><br /><h2>Project description</h2><p>The position belongs to the research group for<a href="https://www.mn.uio.no/farmasi/forskning/grupper/klinisk-farmasi/index.html" rel="nofollow"> clinical pharmacy</a>, and is funded by the Norwegian Pharmacy Foundation. The main focus of ’the research group’s work is the optimization of the medication use of the individual, patient living with multiple long-term conditions. This also applies to the planned project. The postdoctoral project will contribute to the larger, established project CIRCLE (“Co-design of a seamless person-centered intervention to optimise medication use across healthcare levels.”). Through the CIRCLE project we aim to design a new and effective patient centered intervention. More specifically, we aim to improve information about medications at transfer of care and strengthen the patient’s self-management of medications after hospital discharge. Using the innovation method “design thinking” we have developed a prototype for the new intervention, which we have further improved through testing with a group of hospitalised patients and some stakeholder groups. The person to fill this postdoctoral position will have the day-to-day responsibility of leading the continued testing of our prototype in additional situations and with further stakeholders, in particular with patients filling their prescriptions at pharmacies and pharmacy staff. Subsequently a more final, digital prototype will be developed, which will then be tested in a randomised, controlled pilot study, planned and led by the postdoctoral candidate. The candidate will also be involved in the supervision of master&#39;s students and PhD-students recruited to the project. </p><p>Important collaborating partners are the UiO Growth House, the Department of Pharmacy Uppsala University, the Norwegian Pharmacy Association, Oslo University Hospital, the Hospital Pharmacies Enterprise in South-Eastern Norway and the Medicines Optimization Innovation Centre, Nord-Irland.</p><p>The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a <a href="https://www.mn.uio.no/english/research/postdoc/Development-plan/index.html" rel="nofollow">professional development plan</a> no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period.</p><br /><h2>What skills are important in this role?</h2><p>The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition to be among Europe’s leading communities for research, education and innovation. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.</p><p><strong>Required qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in clinical or social pharmacy, or similar degrees related to clinical work. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Only applicants with an approved doctoral thesis and public defence are eligible for appointment</li><li>Fluent oral and written communication skills in English</li></ul><p><strong>Desired qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Extended experience with working within the European healthcare setting, for example within clinical or hospital pharmacy, or interprofessional collaboration</li><li>Experience with design thinking in research related to health care delivery, digital health systems, and/or transfer of care</li><li>Good oral and written communication in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage</li><li>Experience in supervision of bachelor, master’s and PhD students</li></ul><p>All candidates and projects will have to undergo a check versus national export, sanctions and security regulations.
