<h2>About the position</h2>Position as PhD Research Fellow in Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology available at the Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo. The fellowship period is three years.A fourth year maybe considered and it will involve 25 percent of other career-promoting work. Other career-promoting work may consist of teaching, supervision, and/or research assistance. This is dependent upon the qualification of the applicant and the current needs of the department.Starting date no later than October 1, 2026.No one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo. Place of work is the Department of Biosciences at Blindern, the Life Science Building, Oslo. <h2>Job description</h2>Exposing animals to hypothermia can induce neuronal plasticity, improve memory functions, and protect neurons from degeneration. The goal of this project is to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms and neural benefits of hypothermia with important medical implications. To study this, the Ph.D. candidate will use mammalian cells, organoids, and animal models, and employ a range of approaches, including cell culture systems, diverse molecular techniques, and advanced imaging. The project will involve both internal and external collaborations, offering the opportunity of interdisciplinary research, conducted in leading labs and stimulating research environment.
