Highsoft’s story begins in the picturesque village of Vik in Sogn, Norway. Back in 2009, Torstein Hønsi, the founder, was managing his website, Vikjavev, which shared weather and snow depth data from the local mountains. Every week, he hiked up the mountain to measure snow depth on a stake he’d planted, meticulously recording the data on millimeter paper. Wanting a better way to present this information visually, Torstein built his own solution---a simple JavaScript charting library that worked seamlessly in web browsers.
What started as a small side project quickly grew into something much bigger. Developers around the world recognized its potential, and demand for a professional tool soared. With Highcharts as its flagship product, Highsoft was officially born. From its humble beginnings in Vik, the company has become a world leader in data visualization.
Today, Highsoft employs a team of 50 diverse and talented individuals, serving clients that include 80 of the world’s 100 largest companies. While our roots remain in Vik, we’ve expanded to Bergen and Sogndal, combining the tranquility of the fjords with the energy of bustling tech hubs.
